U2 – No Line on the Horizon Radio Premiere
2009-02-13Irish radio station RTE 2XM premiered the title track from U2’s upcoming album No Line on the Horizon yesterday. From what I understand there will be 3 versions available. This was the punk-ish sounding version that was played. There is some confusion as to what version will be on the album. Judging by the 30 second clips that Walmart put up last week, it seems it’s the ambient version that will be the opening track. However, I’ve heard many people say it will be this upbeat version that RTE played yesterday…anyway, after hearing the song in full, I am feeling very excited about the upcoming album. Just like in the first single, Get on Your Boots, The Edge is using a fuzz sound for the main riff. Could it possibly be the Electro-Harmonix POG that has been seen in pictures of U2 in the studio?
No Line on the Horizon sounds much more original than Get on Your Boots, like nothing you’ve heard before, which is a nice treat following two rather generic albums. That being said, it still has some classic U2 trademarks, like the use of delay and The Edge’s shimmer effect.
The third version of No Line on the Horizon is a remix by Will.I.Am. I don’t know how I feel about that…

So far I like this single best. Better than “Get on Your Boots.” It’s going to be so cool live!
I have to check out this next single. Hopefully the Spotify people can help me out. Can’t wait for the new album!
