The Boss is on Fire

Apparently the cold damp climate at the Glastonbury Festival, combined with a very sweaty Bruce Springsteen, made it look like he was on fire. Check this out:

Band of Skulls

Just wanted to give a heads up on this cool band I just discovered. They’re a UK band called Band of Skulls, and have recently released their first album, Baby Darling Doll Face Honey. The band is a trio, consisting of drummer Matthew Hayward, guitarist and singer Russell Marsden, and bassist and singer Emma Richardson.

As most of you know, I am a huge White Stripes fan, and Band of Skulls kind of sound like the Stripes, but with a fuller sound, since they are a trio. Furthermore, Russell sounds like Jack White’s brother. I really like that they have both a male and a female singer, it adds an extra dimension to their sound. My favorite songs so far are first single I Know What I Am and the brilliantly titled Death By Diamonds and Pearls. Now, if they would only make their way over to Sweden so I’d get a chance to see them live. Judging by this live performance, they seem to be a great live band:

The Foot is Coming Down

Been a while since I wrote a new post, so I thought I’d do a quick one while waiting to board my flight to NYC.

I really just wanted to mention new supergroup Chickenfoot. It’s Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony from Van Halen, Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Joe Satriani. When I first heard about this project last year my initial reaction was not exactly joyous. This was mainly because I have never been a fan of Satriani, and his whole Coldplay debacle doesn’t exactly improve his rating in my book.

HOWEVER, after hearing 3 songs on their website. I am psyched! This sounds like classic Van Hagar! It’s like Sammy woke up from his creative slumber.

They say on their website that they will be playing songs from all band members’ respective groups during their upcoming tour. I could totally hear Sammy belting out Californication and Give it Away. I’m actually going to see Chickenfoot on July 10th at Rockweekend here in Sweden.

So, head on over to chickenfoot.us and check out first single “Oh Yeah”!

U2 360 Baby!

After trying and failing to get tickets to the past two U2 tours, I have finally gotten tickets to U2’s upcoming U2 360 Tour in Gothenburg, Sweden. I decided to join U2’s fanclub at U2.com a while back in hopes of maybe getting a chance to buy tickets during a presale, and I am pleased to say it worked like a charm! Best $50 I ever spent! I’ve been driving myself crazy all week, agonizing over if I would manage to get tickets or not. Now it just remains to be seen if they release tickets for a second show in Sweden. I think chances are pretty good since there is a bit of a gap in their tour schedule both before and after the Gothenburg show, and it’s the only show in Scandinavia this year. I have actually already booked a hotel room for 5 days in anticipation of this. ;)

On a related note I will be attending my first Kings of Leon concert in May, and in Cleveland of all places! We’ll be in The States on vacation in May and thought we’d do a little road trip to check out the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum, and hear some great music at the same time.

Below is a collection of clips from when U2 were on Letterman all of last week. I especially like the snow shoveling one!
